As I go

As I travel, and as I go
I’ve learned somethings, but there’s so much I don’t know
I’ve got a wandering heart, but I long for a home
Who understands this thing? But I’m not alone

Day after day, and mile after mile
Tear after tear, and smile after smile
I go, I always go

Now the lines are showing, and the gray
I remember the places, I remember the names
These stories now chapters, they all start to flow
On I go, on I go

One of these days they will lay me to rest
Climb one last hill, get to the crest
It’s been a good life, though at times I was bad
I wish I’d been better, as husband and dad
